Agriculture Minister inaugurates Apple Day celebration

Tehri, 21 Jul: Agriculture and Sainik Welfare Minister Ganesh Joshi reached Aindi village in Nainbagh, here, today. He attended a programme organised by Coca Cola and Indo Dutch Company on Apple Day.

He inaugurated the Apple Day celebration at Narayan Udyan, Andi. The minister was accorded a grand welcome by the farmers and villagers with beating of drums.

He said that farmers should move forward in the field of agriculture with new technology. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, farmers are getting the benefit of the Kisan Samman Nidhi. He expressed confidence that Uttarakhand would be taken to the level of Himachal in the field of horticulture in five years.

On this occasion, he declared the area as a fruit belt and instructed Secretary Shailesh Bagoli to provide road connectivity, water and electricity to all the farmers. Instructions were issued to increase the budget for protection of agriculture from wild animals.

During the programme, the Minister felicitated 20 apple cultivators who have done excellent work with citations.

Apart from this, the Minister also inaugurated a 500 KW Solar Plant constructed at a cost of Rs 2.29 crore.
