Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony held at St George’s College

MUSSOORIE, 16 March: The Award Ceremony for the students of the batch of 2023 was held on Saturday at St George’s College to recognize excellence in academics and significant contribution in the field of sports and other co-curricular activities. The Chief Guest of the occasion, Satpal Maharaj, Tourism Minister was welcomed with a planter and a memento as a token of appreciation. Juliana D’souza and Rajeev Parihar, Staff, St George’s College Silver Jubilarians, were welcomed with a planter.
The programme began with the Lighting of the Lamp by the Chief Guest, Superior, Brother PU George; Principal, Brother Ramesh Amalanathan; Vice-Principal, Brother Shaju Thomas; Sports Secretary, Brother Isidore Tirkey; Juliana D’souza and Rajeev Parihar. The students put up a melodious song and a dance performance.
The Silver Jubilarians, D’souza and Parihar, were felicitated with a token of appreciation by the Chief Guest and the Brothers for twenty –five years of committed service to the institution.
Adding vibrance to the occasion, the students of the middle school, put up a lively Irish cum Mexican dance and a colourful Garhwali dance.
The Members of the Student Council for the year 2023-2024 were recognized for executing duty to the best of their ability in the following categories:
House Captains: Captain of Cullen’s House: Vedansh Maheshwari; Captain of Gateley’s House: Daksh Narang; Captain of Marthins’ House: Ricky Yadav; and Captain of Tapsell’s House: Atharav Paliya.
School Prefects:
Rajveer Singh Gumber (Head Prefect), Akshat Banka, Maghav Kundra, Aviral Negi, Aditya Raj Goel and Aditya Sajwan.
President, Debating Society: Uday Aggarwal; Member, Editorial Board: Shubham Jain; and Member, Cultural Committee: Arjun Prakash Goyal.
The awards for academic excellence were presented to Ansh Gupta for securing the first position English, Paavani Goel for securing the first position in Commerce and Psychology, Aditya Bhandari for securing the first position in Geography and Veenit Agarwal for excellence in Physical Education.
Colours for Excellence in co-curricular and extra- curricular activities were awarded to Harshal Narang and Atharav Paliya for Basketball; Sahil Taneja for Chess; Devansh Murti and Harshal Narang in Cricket; Rajveer Singh Gumber, Harshwardhan Nautiyal and Kritarsh Dev Nagta in Football; Satya Dhoj Karki, Rudrartha Rana and Anant Jindal for Gymnastics; Priyam Gupta and Chirag Maheshwari for Hockey; Yuvraj Talwar for Lawn Tennis, Aviral Negi, Krishna Agarwal and Mehul Garg for Skating; Akshat Banka and Pravaan Bahadur Pathak for Swimming; Uday Aggarwal and Paavani Goel for Debating ; Daksh Narang for Dramatics; Pravaan Bahadur Pathak for Art and Shlokh Parekh for Choreography.
The Alumini Awards were presented to Devansh Murti and Satya Dhoj Karki for outstanding achievement in Football. The M.C. Wood Medal to the Sportsman of the Year was awarded to Satya Dhoj Karki for his commendable contribution and achievement as a sportsman.
Satpal Maharaj, in his address to the gathering, congratulated the students receiving the awards and advised the students of the outgoing batch of 2023 to embrace the challenges that may come their way with courage, treat others with kindness and never stop learning.
Principal, Brother Ramesh Amalanathan, in his address expressed his gratitude to Satpal Maharaj for his presence and applauded the prize winners.
