Arjun House emerges as Overall Champion at Asian School Athletics Meet

Dehradun, 24 Oct: The 25th Annual Inter House Athletics Meet of The Asian School, here, began on 19 October and concluded today in the picturesque backdrop of ‘The Woods’. The Chief Guest today was Sandeep Sejwal, a celebrated Indian swimmer who participated in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, accompanied by his wife, Pooja Bannerjee, a former national level swimmer and renowned television actress.

Over five days of fierce competition, students from the four houses displayed unrelenting energy and passion across a variety of track and field events.

Arjun House emerged triumphant as the Overall Champion, clinching the coveted Inter House Athletics Trophy for the academic year 2024-25.

Shivaji House through relentless dedication earned the March Past Trophy.

Among the individual achievements, Ishi Sharma from Ashoka House was honoured as the Best Athlete (Girls), while Prakhar Singh from Ranjeet House was celebrated as the Best Athlete (Boys).

The day was enlivened by a series of remarkable displays. Middle School students showcased their strength and discipline with a synchronised Plank Exercise Drill, while Junior School students delighted the audience with a charming Disney Parade. Decorated vintage cars captivated the crowd, highlighting the parade’s charm. The Senior School impressed with an awe-inspiring High Horse Gymnastic Display.

The closing ceremony featured an impeccable March Past by all four house contingents, stepping in rhythm to the stirring tunes of “Kadam Badhaye Ja” and “Saare Jahan Se Accha”, performed by the school’s talented band, led by Himanshi, on bugles, trumpets, and drums.

Chief Guest Sandeep Sejwal presented the trophies to the deserving winners and shared insightful remarks on the integral role sports play in building character and discipline. He emphasised the importance of perseverance, teamwork, and the need for students to embrace sports as a cornerstone of their lives, fostering leadership and contributing to the nation’s progress. As a gesture of appreciation, a memento was presented to the Chief Guest by the Director, Gaganjyot Juneja.

In her closing address, Principal Ruchi Pradhan Datta officially declared the Meet closed as the school flag was lowered to the poignant sound of the Last Post. The flag was then handed over to Retired Subedar Sanjay Kumar Rana, HOD Sports (APTC), by the Principal. The ceremony concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks delivered by CCA Captain Aayush Gupta.

Present were Vice President Madanjeet Singh, Board Members Simmi Juneja and Harveen Juneja, Director Gaganjyot Juneja, Principal Ruchi Pradhan Datta and Colonel Sumit Datta, Head, Senior School, Mukesh Nangia, Headmistress Prachi Mehrotra, Deputy Head, Junior School, Surbhi Narula and the entire faculty and student body of The Asian School.
