DEHRADUN, 7 Dec: On the occasion of “Armed Forces Flag Day,” Governor, Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd), met with Director, Soldiers Welfare & Rehabilitation, Brig Amrit Lal (Retd) at Raj Bhawan on Saturday and hoisted the flag. During the meeting, the Governor took information from Brig Lal regarding the status of all Soldiers Welfare Boards in the state. He mentioned that this day holds even more significance for the state, as the state’s contribution to the Armed forces has been immense. The state has a large number of ex-servicemen, and the first Param Vir Chakra recipient of the country hailed from Uttarakhand. Therefore, it is the duty of the people of Uttarakhand to contribute more and boost the morale of the families of the Armed forces.
The Governor directed the officials of the Soldiers Welfare Department to establish a robust system to address the issues of ex-servicemen, widows, soldiers who have received bravery awards, and their families in all districts of the state.
Present during the meeting were Deputy Director of Soldiers Welfare, Col MS Joshi (Retd), Subedar Major ML Bhatt, and Hemchandra Chaubey.
