Dehradun, March 26: BJP state spokesperson Bipin Kainthola today criticised former Chief Minister Harish Rawat, accusing him of opposing the investigation into illegal madrasas due to political motives. Kainthola claimed that Rawat’s resistance to action against illegal madrasas stems from concerns that the probe could implicate certain Congress leaders supposedly involved in appeasement politics.

Kainthola praised the Dhami government for its efforts to shut down illegal madrasas, a move, according to him, that has been met with enthusiasm by the people of Devbhoomi. The BJP spokesman alleged that Rawat’s statements reflect his discomfort with the investigation, suggesting that Rawat fears it may expose individuals close to him or within his party.

In a separate statement, BJP State Media In-Charge Manveer Singh Chauhan also supported the government’s actions, calling Congress’s opposition to the investigation as unfortunate. Chauhan stressed on BJP’s commitment to preserve the culture and identity of Devbhoomi. He also cited certain measures taken over the past three years to ‘protect the state’s demographic and cultural integrity’.

Chauhan also questioned the necessity of numerous madrasas in a state with a predominantly Sanatan culture, raising concerns about their funding sources and the intentions behind their establishment. He warned that the public would hold Congress accountable for its stance in the upcoming elections.

Both the leaders reiterated the BJP’s support for the investigation, asserting that it would expose those tampering with the state’s cultural fabric and expressed confidence that action against remaining illegal madrasas would follow soon.
