DEHRADUN, 6 Oct: BJP today issued show cause notice to its party MLA from Raipur, Umesh Sharma Kau for alleged anti party activity. The show cause notice has been issued on behalf of State President of the party, Ajay Bhatt by Party General Secretary, RS Bhandari seeking explanation from Kau within 3 days in respect of a video allegedly of him that has gone viral on the social media. In the video, Kau has been shown allegedly expressing open support to an independent candidate in the Panchayat Elections against the official candidate of the party. Taking cognisance of the viral video, BJP State President Ajay Bhatt ordered an internal inquiry and also directed party general secretary RS Bhandari to issue a show cause notice to Kau. His response to the notice has been sought within 3 days of receipt of the notice. It may be recalled that Kau had earlier been in Congress and has represented this constituency since 2012. In 2016, along with several other party leaders including Harak Singh Rawat and Vijay Bahuguna and SubodhUniyal, he had turned rebel and later they all joined the BJP. Party sources say that he has his own team of supporters many of whom have still not joined the BJP. In addition, he is not known to be close to CM Trivendra Singh Rawat and they supposedly share cold vibes between them. It may further be recalled that only months ago, the BJP had also expelled another MLA Kunwar Singh Champion from the party for allegedly cursing the state and indulging in a dance while flaunting his weapons and the drinks. So far, the party has expelled about 40 party leaders for contesting panchayat polls against official party candidates. It remains to be seen, how Umesh Sharma responds to the charges.
