Dehradun, 18 Jan: Some sources in the BJP have claimed UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who is a Uttarakhand native, may address a few election rallies in the state in the ongoing municipal elections. Usually in the Urban Local Bodies elections, Panchayat elections or the byelections, campaigning by big national leaders in the BJP or Congress is not done. However, there is a demand for Yogi Adityanath in the elections chiefly on two accounts. The major reason is the popularity of Yogi Adityanath across the country and particularly in Uttarakhand and the second reason is that Yogi Adityanath is a native of Uttarakhand and hence there is even greater demand for him in Uttarakhand.
Sources claimed that the BJP has sought time from Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to address public meetings at two to three locations in Uttarakhand. At the same time, BJP leaders from the state are already actively campaigning to secure victories in the municipal corporation elections. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, along with all cabinet ministers and MLAs, are vigorously campaigning to win as many seats as possible. Yogi Adityanath is also listed as a star campaigner for the BJP. The BJP organisation has requested time from him for election campaigning.
BJP leaders from the state are hopeful that just before the campaign ends, on January 20 or 21, Yogi Adityanath may address a handful of election rallies in two to three cities in the state. Sources indicated that these public meetings could be organised in Rishikesh, Roorkee, and Haldwani. BJP state vice-president Kuldeep Kumar mentioned that CM Yogi is a star campaigner in the civic elections, and his time has been sought. Once available, his rally programmes will be scheduled at two to three locations. Kuldeep Kumar asserts that Yogi Adityanath‘s rally will benefit the BJP.
On the other hand, Congress state spokesperson Giriraj Kishore commented that when the BJP feels tired, defeated, and scared, it resorts to every trick to win the election. He noted that Yogi Adityanath is a face the BJP considers for the next PM. Kishore added that if the UP CM is coming as a star campaigner in the municipal elections, it reflects the condition of the Dhakad Dhami government.
