Dehradun, 25 Dec: The BJP will celebrate the birth centenary year of its founder and Bharat Ratna awardee, the late Atal Bihari Vajpayee, through year-long Good Governance Day programmes. This was shared by BJP’s State President and Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Bhatt today while addressing a seminar organised at the party headquarters here today.

Bhatt asserted that Vajpayee would always remain in the hearts of the people of Devbhoomi. He described Vajpayee’s life as exemplary not only from a political but also a social perspective. Bhatt recalled that even during a ruckus at a public meeting in Dehradun, Vajpayee remained undisturbed and announced that the BJP government would create the state of Uttarakhand. He fulfilled this promise after becoming the Prime Minister, despite not having an absolute majority.  He also reminded that the then NDA Government led by Vajpayee also provided a special industrial state package, linked cities to the Golden Quadrilateral Scheme, and connected rural areas to PMGSY.

Earlier, at the start of the seminar, Bhatt and other party elders paid floral tribute to Vajpayee’s picture on behalf of the entire BJP family of the state and appealed for everyone to implement Vajpayee’s ideas in their public and practical lives.

Later, during his media interaction, Bhatt mentioned that the 100th birth anniversary of Vajpayee, the source of inspiration for party workers and the pioneer of the organisation, is ongoing. The party will celebrate this centenary year through various Good Governance Day programmes throughout the year.

On the occasion of birth centenary of Vajpayee, an exhibition based on Vajpayee’s life was also organised at the state office along with a seminar. In the coming days, seminars and exhibition programmes are being planned to be held at places associated with Vajpayee’s memory. Various Sewa Karyakrams would also be conducted, and a lecture series based on his thoughts and feelings towards the state would be hosted. Books related to Vajpayee’s thoughts and literature would be distributed by various party organisations.

Today’s event was attended by State General Secretary Organisation Ajaey Kumar, Cabinet Minister Dhan Singh Rawat, State General Secretary Aditya Kothari, Khilendra Chaudhary, MLAs Savita Kapoor, Ramesh Kaida, Anil Nautiyal, Durgeshwar Lal and Dilip Singh Rawat, Madhu Bhatt, Vinod Uniyal, Dr Devendra Bhasin, Vishwas Dawar, State Treasurer Puneet Mittal, State Office Secretary Kaustubhanand Joshi, State Media In-charge Manveer Singh Chouhan, Saurabh Thapliyal, and a large number of party officials and senior workers.
