Dehradun, 11 Feb: BJP has expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami for launching the CM’s Single Women Self-Employment Scheme. The party has described it as a historic initiative aimed at empowering economically vulnerable women across the state. State President of BJP Mahila Morcha Ruchi Bhatt welcomed the launch of the scheme and stated that the move to make 1,024 selected women self-reliant through self-employment would prove to be a landmark step in the direction of women’s empowerment.

Bhatt added that, on the previous day, an amount of approximately Rs 3.45 crores had been directly transferred into the bank accounts of 484 women beneficiaries from six districts. The remaining 540 selected women from other districts would also receive financial assistance amounting to about Rs 4 crores within the same month. She reminded that, under the scheme, single women are being provided a subsidy of 75 percent, wherein only 25 percent of the total project cost will be contributed by the beneficiary herself, while the remaining amount will be borne by the State Government as a grant.

Bhatt observed that there are many women in society who are compelled to face economic hardship on account of being widowed, deserted, divorced, survivors of acid attacks or other criminal offences, or belonging to the transgender community. Owing to such circumstances, these women are often forced to depend on others for their livelihood and are subjected to social neglect and indignity. She stated that the scheme, which seeks to make such women self-reliant, is among the historic decisions taken in the State in the interest of women and is a significant step towards restoring their dignity and financial independence.

The BJP leader further asserted that, in the true sense, the scheme would enable single women to stand on their own feet and secure rightful respect, safety and self-sufficiency in society. Emphasising the State Government’s commitment, she claimed that since assuming office, the Dhami Government has consistently prioritised the welfare of women and has introduced several initiatives aimed at addressing the concerns of women from all sections of society.

Bhatt also cited the provision of 30 per cent horizontal reservation for women in State services, Saksham Bahna Utsav, empowerment of women self-help groups, the Chief Minister’s Udyamshala scheme and the implementation of the UCC as examples of the Government’s sustained efforts to strengthen the position of women in the State.
