Dehradun, 1 Dec: Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi today held a review meeting at his camp office with officials from the Public Works Department (PWD), Irrigation Department, and Police Administration regarding the improvement and widening of the road in the Garhi Cantt area—from Canal Road to Tapkeshwar Road—as well as the Dakra Bazaar road stretch.
During the meeting, Minister Joshi directed officials to identify and remove all encroachments obstructing the road-widening work. He instructed that notices be issued to all identified encroachments, giving them a period of three days, after which the demolition process should be initiated.
Minister Joshi also instructed that a joint team of PWD and the Irrigation Department conduct a site inspection to ensure both transparency and speed in the proceedings. He emphasised that during the widening process, special care must be taken to ensure minimal inconvenience or loss to local residents and business owners. He directed all departments to work in coordination to make the roads safer, smoother, and better organised, thereby improving the traffic system in the area.
Regarding street vendors in Dakra Bazaar, Minister Joshi directed the police administration to verify all vendors and take appropriate action as per rules. Those whose verification is already complete should be allotted space in the market on a priority basis.
The Minister instructed PWD officials to expedite the widening work of the Anarwala–Malsi Road and resolve all discrepancies on the Kimadi Motor Road so that the work can progress swiftly.
He also ordered that pending procedures related to forest clearance for the widening of the Mussoorie Diversion to Kothal Gate road be completed at the earliest. In this regard, Minister Joshi spoke to Forest Department officials over the phone and urged them to issue the required approvals as soon as possible so that no delay occurs in the road-widening work.
Minister Joshi gave strict instructions to all departments to ensure that road improvement, widening, and disaster-related reconstruction works are completed within the stipulated timeline.
Present on the occasion were former Councillor Vishnu Prasad Gupta; Superintending Engineer, Irrigation Department, Sanjay Raj; Executive Engineer, PWD, Rajesh Kumar; Executive Engineer, Irrigation Department, Dikshant Gupta; Assistant Engineer, Irrigation Department, Pawan Kumar; SP City Dehradun, Pramod Kumar; SHO Garhi Cantt, Kamal Kumar; and other officials.
