Census 2027 launched in Uttarakhand by Governor through Self-Enumeration

Dehradun, 10 Apr: The process of Census 2027 in Uttarakhand was formally launched today by the Governor, Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd), at the Lok Bhavan here through self-enumeration. With this, the first phase of census activities has commenced across the state.

This census is India’s first fully digital census, where data collection is being carried out through digital devices. Additionally, citizens have been provided the facility of self-enumeration through a secure, web-based system.

The Governor appealed to the people of the state to actively participate in this important national exercise and ensure accurate and complete information through self-enumeration. He stated that the web portal has been designed to be simple and user-friendly, enabling common citizens to fill in details without difficulty.

He also urged youth and social organisations to assist others in using digital platforms so that no one is left out of the process.

Director, Census Operations, under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, Eva Ashish Srivastava, stated that, under the first phase in Uttarakhand, house listing and housing census activities will be conducted across the state from April 25 to May 24, 2026, over a period of 30 days.

Prior to the door-to-door survey, citizens will have access to the self-enumeration facility from April 10 to April 24, 2026. During this period, they can log in to the official census portal using their mobile number and required details to digitally submit information about themselves and their families.

On this occasion, Secretary Deepak Kumar was also present.
