DEHRADUN, 1 Dec: Central School for Tibetans Happy Valley, Mussoorie today observed World AIDS day. The theme of the year 2018 is “Know Your Status”.
The students staged various programmes on the occasion. A skit on the stage was presented, giving the message to the audience on AIDS. About 80 students of different categories took part in a Half Marathon in spreading awareness on AIDS Day in the vicinity. The marathon race was flagged off by the school principal S P Singh. Two different groups of Boys & Girls respectively took part in Marathon race. Earlier, in the morning programme of the school, Principal, S P Singh & Rector Bhutuk Shastri addressed the students & expressed their thanks to the funding agency, USAID. They also thanked USAID, CTA, DOhe, Dharamsala & CTSA Delhi for supporting the event. Banners, Posters & Placards on the observation were exhibited & displayed around the school campus.
The school staff medical sister, Tseten Tsomo addressed the students. She sensitized the students on the issue in medical terms & made the students aware on preventing the disease.
The school organized the programme under the guidelines of CTSA, Delhi & Tibetan Health Department Dharamsala. The World Aid Day’s programme was funded by “USAID” agency. The winner students of different events were awarded with cash prizes & trophies by the school Rector & Principal in the afternoon of the day. Sangay Dolma, Paldon, & Vandana Saha were the winners of the essay writing competition. Five teams of the different classes presented skits on AIDS awareness. On the spot Painting competition was also conducted. Dawa, Dasal & Padma were the winners of Drawing & painting. Class XA & IX B got the first & second prizes in skit. Shyam Sunder, Neeraj & Aush Bhatt secured first, second & third positions in Boys Marathon categories while Astha, Taniya & Charita secured positions in girls’ categories.
A documentary film released by Department of Health, Central Tibetan Administration, Dharmsala called Henagregdug “Breaking the Silence towards Zero HIV community” was also screened for the students as an awareness strategy.
Principal S P Singh , Rector, Bhutuk Shastri, Thakchoe Tsering,Teacher Counselor & Convener of the programme, A. S. Kanderi expressed their thanks & gratitude to “USAID” agency for helping their school & children in making them aware about the menace & supporting the program in a large scale. Phuntsok , P.A. to Rector,Thakchoe Tsering, V.K. Sharma, Rabzes, Phuntsok Dolma, Dawa, Choekey, Kanishka, Charita, Phuntsok, Tashi, Dolma, Pema & others were the major participating teachers & students.
