DEHRADUN, 1 Aug: Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Dr BVRC Purushottam on Saturday held a video conference with all the District Magistrates from across the State to review the ongoing notice and hearing phase under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign. He instructed that for the next three weeks District Magistrates must focus their full attention to the SIR process, ensuring that the hearings on notices are conducted with priority. He directed that the DMs, ADMs and the SDMs should remain in their offices only when meetings with political parties are scheduled, otherwise they should prepare rosters for field visits and stay among the people.
The CEO made it clear that if any voter fails to attend the hearing of a notice for any reason, sufficient time must be given for a second hearing so that voters do not face inconvenience. He emphasised that the voters’ convenience must remain the foremost priority. He further directed all the districts to hold meetings with the political parties twice a week to obtain feedback, including suggestions from recognised as well as other political parties. Senior officers from the CEO office have also been instructed to undertake district‑wise field visits and collect feedback directly from voters.
During the meeting, Additional Chief Electoral Officer Dr Vijay Kumar Jogdande directed Electoral Registration Officers to maintain constant coordination with Assistant Electoral Registration Officers and Booth Level Officers. He stressed that special attention is required at booths where the number of notices exceeds 100. Joint Chief Electoral Officer Prakash Chandra Dumka instructed all EROs to continue training sessions for BLO supervisors and BLOs at cluster level without interruption.
Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Kishan Singh Negi, Assistant Chief Electoral Officer Mastu Das along with district magistrates and EROs of all districts were among those who were present at the meeting.
