Dehradun, 3 Aug: Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Dr BVRC Purushottam today directed the officials involved in Special Intensive Revision (SIR) that documents submitted by voters during hearings under the ongoing special intensive revision campaign in Uttarakhand be verified within the stipulated time.
Chairing a meeting at the Secretariat here today with the senior officials of various departments, he entrusted the responsibility of verification to the state‑level nodal officers appointed from different departments.
He instructed that among the 11 documents identified by the Election Commission, records such as educational certificates, permanent residence proofs, caste certificates, birth certificates and family registers must be verified promptly. Coordination with district‑level nodal officers and continuous monitoring at the state level was emphasised to ensure timely action.
For verification of matriculation and educational certificates, the Director of Secondary Education and the Director of Higher Education have been designated as nodal officers. The Revenue Council has been assigned responsibility for permanent residence, caste and building allotment certificates, while the Director of Urban Development and the Director of Health will verify birth certificates. The Director, Panchayati Raj, has been tasked with family registers and building allotments, and the Director of ITDA will oversee online services of various departments. The CEO said that the objective of this entire process is to ensure that documents presented by voters during hearings are verified in time and their issues resolved effectively.
Among those present at the meeting were Additional Chief Electoral Officer Vijay Kumar Jogdande, Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Kishan Singh Negi and senior officials from the Higher Education, Secondary Education, Urban Development, Panchayati Raj, Health, Revenue and ITDA departments.
