Dehradun, 12 Mar: Chief Electoral Officer, Uttarakhand, Dr BVRC Purushottam held a meeting at the Secretariat here on Monday with representatives of all the recognised political parties and registered unrecognised political parties of the state with regard to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
The Chief Electoral Officer sought cooperation from all the political parties to ensure successful completion of the election process. Detailed information was shared about the guidelines of the Commission during nomination of candidates, declaration of manifesto and code of conduct.
Information was also shared with the representatives from all the political parties regarding the provision of expenditure on rallies, road shows and other events of their star campaigners. The Chief Electoral Officer appealed to all the political parties to motivate the people as much as possible to increase the voting percentage in the state. He assured all the political parties that, during the election process, the Chief Electoral Officer’s office would provide prompt assistance and cooperation to any political party on solving any kind of difficulty. Purushottam also appealed to the political parties to cooperate in making the state plastic free and not to use single use plastic in the election campaign material.
On this occasion, Assistant Chief Electoral Officer Mastu Das gave a detailed presentation to the political parties about the responsibilities and various issues related to the election process. Nodal Officer, Expenditure, Manmohan Mainali shared the guidelines regarding the expenditure limit on rallies, advertising campaigns and social media. Information about the CVigil app was also provided at the meeting.
On this occasion, Joint Chief Electoral Officers Namami Bansal and Pratap Shah, and representatives of recognised political parties and registered unrecognised political parties were also present.
