Children working in mines in Haridwar rescued on directions of U’khand CRPC

Dehradun, 11 Dec: On receiving information about children working in mines, Chairperson of the Uttarakhand Child Rights Protection Commission, Dr Geeta Khanna has taken suo motu cognisance and directed the District Magistrate Haridwar to take immediate action. Consequently, the District Magistrate formed a team and successfully rescued the children.

Dr Geeta Khanna has also taken a tough stand on the rape case of a 14-year-old girl in Haridwar, seeking a detailed report from the SSP. Considering the seriousness of the matter, she has instructed immediate action to ensure justice.

Furthermore, she also took cognisance of the incident involving the death of a girl in a school located in Tyuni (Chakrata Block). She has written a letter to the DG, Education, seeking a detailed report within one week. Expressing deep grief over the incident, Dr Khanna stated that it is a very sad and unfortunate incident. The safety of children needs to be the top priority, and strict steps will be taken to prevent recurrence of such incidents. She also emphasised the importance of organising various workshops in schools to inform children about their rights and their
