DEHRADUN, 9 Dec: Himalayan Torchbearers held their annual Christmas program on Sunday the 9th of December. Sunil Uniyal Gama the newly elected mayor of Dehradun graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Also present to celebrate were Greg Mann, MLA, S. K. Mattoo, Alok B Lal, Alok Jain, Sanjeev Chopra, Satish Sharma of Garhwal Post, Vivekanand Khanduri and Brigadier Bhatia among many other distinguished guests, parents, neighbours and well wishers of Himalayan Torchbearers.
The festive occasion began with a welcome dance “Swaagatam” by the students of HTB Academy Kuthalgate. The Naga Christian Fellowship then sang Christmas Carols and invited the guests to join them. Following the beautiful singing by the choir, the tiny tots of HTB Academy performed an action song followed by a solo number by Deezane Pamei. The students of HTB Academy Kuthalgate also performed a nativity play in which they emphasized that gifts are not important but the reason for the celebration is the birth of Jesus. Students of Doon Bible College presented a beautiful Nepali dance. Dinesh Prasad pastor of Methodist church, Dehradun gave a message on the meaning of Christmas based on the Bible.
The Chief Guest shared words of encouragement and gave his best wishes for the Christmas season.
To close Dr. Satish John the Founder Director of Himalayan Torchbearers expressed his thanks to all those that joined Himalayan Torchbearers in celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. He greeted people by saying the coming of Christ represents peace, love and happiness to all humanity and he wished the same for every one present not only during Christmas season but also for the new year. The evening ended with children from HTB Academy performing “We wish you a merry Christmas”.
