Dehradun, 4 Sep: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami conducted a surprise inspection of the State Police Headquarters here today. On this occasion, he sought detailed information about the women safety helpline operated from the Police Headquarters and various other activities being conducted by the police.
During the course of his inspection, the CM also directed the officers to strengthen the law and order in the state. He asserted that strict action be taken against the miscreants who disturb law and order and disturb the peace. He said that prompt action should also be taken on incidents related to crimes against women. It should be ensured that the needy people get immediate police assistance.
The CM directed the senior police officers to take action as soon as possible on illegal attempts to change the demography of the state and on forced conversions or mass conversions and matters of love jihad. Dhami asserted that those who disturb the peace of the state must not be spared. He said that an intensive campaign should be run by the police to catch the criminals and the activities of the persons with criminal background be regularly monitored.
The Chief Minister directed the senior police officers to conduct on-site inspection of the police stations from where they have started their jobs, and as per the need, they should also cooperate in strengthening the stations concerned. The Chief Minister further directed the police officers to increase patrolling in the border areas of the state and keep a watch on those entering the state. He insisted that continuous efforts should be made to reduce crime. He also directed that senior women IPS officers be given responsibility to prevent crimes against women and to provide them quick justice. The Chief Minister also asked the officers to ensure better coordination among themselves for effective control of crime, quick exchange of information for further strengthening the intelligence system and for ensuring regular arrangements for night patrolling. Patrolling should be increased by keeping a constant watch on the areas where criminal activities have increased.
Dhami said that regular training should be given to the police personnel. Cybercrime and other technology based training should be given to the police personnel from time to time to keep them updated and prepared to deal with crime.
On this occasion, DGP Abhinav Kumar, ADGs Amit Kumar Sinha, V Murugeshan, AP Anshuman, IGs Vimmi Sachdeva, Nilesh Anand Bharane, KS Nagnyal, Additional Secretary, Home, Nivedita Kukreti, DIG Senthil Abudayi and SSP, Dehradun, Ajai Singh were also present.
