CM directs officials to strengthen cyber security, intelligence network

Dehradun, 30 Sep: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dham today chaired a meeting to review the performance of the Home Department. At the meeting, Dhami directed the officers to strengthen the cyber security system.  He noted that special efforts are needed to further strengthen intelligence gathering. The Chief Minister said that public problems and c grievances should be resolved promptly. Teamwork has to be ensured to make the policing system stronger. The tasks which ought to be resolved at the police station and district level should not reach the police headquarters and the government level. He said it is necessary for the police to behave well with the general public while remaining strict against anti-social activities, which should be closely monitored and curbed effectively.

Dhami added that maximum use of modern technology should be made to ensure a smart policing system in the state. Special attention had to be paid on how drones could better used for crowd management, traffic management and disaster management. Best practices of other states also needed to be studied for modernisation of the police. To stop beggary, a committee under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary including police, education, social welfare and other related departments should be set up. He directed that an action plan be prepared to stop begging by holding coordinated meetings of these departments. To further strengthen the police system, training should be given to the policemen from time to time. The Chief Minister said that special attention should be paid to traffic management. The SP traffic should be made nodal officer for all smooth arrangements of traffic.

It was stated at the meeting that the crime rate in Uttarakhand is the lowest in the country except the North East states. Uttarakhand ranks 6th in the country and second among Himalayan states in the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network System. Full arrangement of CCTV cameras has been made in all the police stations.

Chief Secretary Dr SS Sandhu, Additional Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, DGP Ashok Kumar, Special Principal Secretary Abhinav Kumar, Secretary R Meenakshi Sundaram, Shailesh Bagoli, ADG Dr PVK Prasad, Amit Kumar Sinha, V Murugesan, other senior police officers were present at the meeting.
