Dehradun, 8 Sep: Young mountaineers Riyansh Pant and Prisha Rawat today called on Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at his official residence here. Pant and Rawat recently achieved the remarkable feat of successfully climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak situated in Tanzania. The CM congratulated the children on their achievement and extended best wishes for their bright future. He also felicitated them on the occasion.
Dhami observed that conquering such a challenging summit at such a young age reflects their courage, determination and confidence. He added that the success of Riyansh Pant and Prisha Rawat has brought pride to Uttarakhand and will inspire other children and youth of the state to set ambitious goals and strive to achieve them.
It may be reminded here that nine-year-old Riyansh Pant hails from Chinakhan in Almora, while ten-year-old Prisha Rawat is a resident of Bailpadav in Nainital district. On 22 August 2026, both had successfully scaled the 5,895-metre-high Mount Kilimanjaro and unfurled the national tricolour at the summit. The CM said that the children and youth of Uttarakhand are full of talent, courage and capability. He added that the state’s youth are excelling in mountaineering, sports and other adventure activities, bringing recognition to the state at national and international levels. He also claimed that the government is consistently working to encourage young talent and provide them with better opportunities to move forward.
Speaking to Garhwal Post, Riyansh Pant’s father Rakesh Pant shared that both the children are now preparing to scale Mt Elbrus in Russia which is the highest mountain peak in Europe. He also shared that the children have also trekked several challenging treks in Uttarakhand.
