CM hands over appointment letters to 72 Asst Professors

Dehradun, 27 Aug: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami handed over appointment letters to 72 Assistant Professors who have been selected by the Uttarakhand State Public Service Commission for the Higher Education Department at a function held at his official residence here today. Appointment letters were given today to Assistant Professors selected for Sociology, Economics and English subjects.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister also inaugurated a portal for providing aid amounting to Rs 50,000 in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) Institute for meritorious students of the state.

Congratulating all the Assistant Professors who received the appointment letters today, the Chief Minister asserted that teachers play an important role in building the future of learners. They have an important responsibility to build the future of the state’s youth. He said that the appointment is just the first step for these newly selected Assistant Professors. Now they have an important challenge to shape the future of the students by performing well in their respective field of work.

Dhami expressed hope that the newly selected Assistant Professors will use innovation at their workplace. He added that the state government will run awareness campaigns against the evils of society, use modern technology in the field of education and inculcate good values ​​in the youth along with an employment-oriented education system.

The CM said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasised from the land of Baba Kedar that the third decade of the 21st century will be that of Uttarakhand. The state government is moving forward in this direction. Preparations for implementing the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in the state are in the final stage. Many decisions have been taken in public interest in the past three years. In the past three years, more than 16 thousand youth have been given appointment in government services. The process of filling the remaining vacant posts is also going on rapidly. Strict anti-copying law and anti-riot law have been implemented in the state. He reminded that Uttarakhand has got the first place in the country in the Sustainable Development Goals issued by NITI Aayog.

Dhami said that higher education is the basis for carving human resources. Higher education plays an important role in giving the right direction to the young leaders. Teachers also play an important role in making the learners responsible towards society and the country along with ensuring good education to the children. The Chief Minister said that the youth should also be encouraged towards entrepreneurship and startups. He said that the youth have to be prepared in such a way that they not only become job seekers, but also become job providers for others. For this, the Devbhoomi Entrepreneurship Scheme has also been started. The National Education Policy-2020 has been implemented in the state.

The Chief Minister said that work is being done in all areas of construction of infrastructure, expansion of technology in the state’s government colleges and universities. Twenty model colleges are being established in the state. Meritorious students are being given scholarships every month. Researchers are also being encouraged to promote research. Dhami reminded that under the Gaurav Yojna, a target has been set to provide three-tier training in banking and finance to students studying in higher educational institutions of the state, and placement of 5,000 students.

On this occasion, Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Bansal, MLAs Umesh Sharma Kau, Khajan Das, Savita Kapoor, Vice-President, Higher Education Upgradation Committee, Prof Devendra Bhasin, Secretary, Higher Education, Shailesh Bagoli, Additional Secretary Ashish Shrivastava and senior officers of the Higher Education Department were present.
