CM inaugurates Madho Singh Bhandari State Mela, announces several projects

Tehri Garhwal, 3 Jan: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today inaugurated the 5-day State Industrial Agriculture Development Fair at Maletha, organised in memory of Veer Shiromani Madho Singh Bhandari. During the event, the Chief Minister also inspected departmental stalls and saluted a march-past by school students and NCC cadets.

On this occasion, he also paid homage to Madho Singh Bhandari by garlanding his statue and visiting the historic irrigation canal, or “Gul,” constructed by late Bhandari to benefit the region.

Dhami on this occasion made several announcements regarding development projects. The announcements included naming Maletha Chowk after Madho Singh Bhandari, expanding the fair site, construction of a Primary Health Centre (PHC) building at Silkakhal, beautification of Surya Devi Temple at Palethi Bangarh, and improvement of local road infrastructure in the area.

Recalling the contributions of Madho Singh Bhandari, the CM stated his life exemplified the true meaning of valour, service and dedication. He commended the irrigation canal built by Bhandari in adverse conditions, which continues to benefit the region today.

Dhami also reiterated his government’s commitment to development in Uttarakhand across sectors such as education, healthcare, and road infrastructure. He also mentioned safety enhancements like installation of crash barriers being undertaken along 170 kilometres of roads in Tehri Garhwal and the construction of the Tehri Lake Ring Road. Additionally, he also underscored efforts to boost tourism, self-employment, and women’s empowerment, including interest-free loans of up to Rs 3 lakhs for farmers.

The CM also mentioned the success of initiatives like “Lakhpati Didi”, which has empowered one lakh women, and the “House of Himalaya” brand, which promotes local products globally. He mentioned the government’s strict anti-cheating law, which has boosted confidence among talented youth and facilitated over 19,000 jobs.

The fair also featured public grievance redressal sessions and promotions of public welfare schemes through stalls by various departments, including Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Agriculture, and Tourism. Schoolchildren showcased cultural tableaus, adding vibrancy to the event.

Local MLA Vinod Kandari welcomed the CM on his arrival and presented a memorandum for regional development. Several dignitaries, including outgoing District Panchayat President Sona Sajwan and SSP Ayush Aggarwal, attended the event alongside local residents.
