Dehradun, 19 Mar: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami officially released the Panchang calendar, published by the Information and Public Relations Department, at his residence here today on the auspicious occasion of the Hindu New Year. Terming it an innovative initiative, the CM described the publication as a significant step towards preserving and disseminating the state’s rich cultural and religious heritage to the masses.
Dhami also observed that Devbhoomi Uttarakhand holds a unique identity globally for its Sanatan traditions, religious beliefs, and cultural values, emphasising that these traditions are not merely matters of faith but are integral to the lifestyle, social fabric, and cultural consciousness of the region. He stated that the publication of this Panchang calendar would serve as a powerful medium to safeguard this glorious heritage and pass it on to the younger generation.
The CM further noted that the calendar would provide citizens with accurate information regarding dates, days, fortnights, months, festivals, and special occasions, while also highlighting the significance of traditional festivals, fasts, and religious events. This, he suggested, would offer people an opportunity to connect more deeply with their culture and traditions. He further mentioned that the Panchang features prominent religious and spiritual sites of Uttarakhand, which serve as symbols of the state’s historical and spiritual legacy. Consequently, the calendar acts as both an informative document and an inspiring compilation that offers a glimpse into the cultural essence of the state. Appreciating the efforts of the Information and Public Relations Department, the CM also expressed hope that the calendar would prove useful to every citizen and envisioned its further enrichment in the future. Among those present at the launch event of the calendar were Secretary Vinay Shankar Pandey, Director General (DG), Information, Banshidhar Tiwari and several other senior officials.
