DEHRADUN, 6 Jan: In view of the cold wave following rains and snowfall in the state, Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has asked all the District Magistrates to ensure all necessary arrangements to ward off the cold. Following the predictions made by the meteorological department, the Chief Minister has asked them to remain vigilant.
He has asked the District Magistrates to provide bonfires at road crossings, public places, railway stations, bus stands and also to ensure that places like “Rain baseras’ where homeless people stay should be adequately warmed.
He urged the Mayors and Chiefs of the Municipal Corporations and other civic bodies for help in this matter. Officials of the local civic bodies have been asked to make arrangements for the poor to face the chilly conditions. He also ordered distribution of warm clothes, quilts and blankets to the poor people as per their requirements. He also instructed both the Commissioners to ensure adequate arrangements in this regard.
