Conference of Clinical Scientists on Research in Basic Medical Sciences held in Doon

Dehradun, 28 Sep: Fifth Annual Conference of Clinical Scientists in Basic Medical Sciences was held today in Dehradun. It is an annual event that brings together academicians from various medical colleges to share ideas and research findings in basic medical sciences. Last year, the 4th edition was held at the University of Hyderabad, Telangana.

The theme of this year’s event was “Artificial Intelligence & Current Diagnostic Advancements in Healthcare System,” and it was hosted at a hotel here today with over 100 delegates from across the country in participation. Dr Harbans Lal, a pioneer of the ELISA test in India and a Professor of Biochemistry, graced the event as the Chief Guest. Registrar R &D of Shri Guru Ram Rai University Pankaj Mishra was the Guest of honour for the conference.

The programme featured informative invited lectures. Dr Rajesh Bareja, a Professor of Microbiology at World Medical College, Jhajjar, Haryana, discussed the applications of artificial intelligence in research publications in modern medicine. Dr Sukhes Mukherjee, a professor of Biochemistry at AIIMS, Bhopal made a presentation on “Advancements in diagnostic biochemistry and the role of artificial intelligence”.

Dr Arjun Maitra, an Associate Professor of Physiology at Dr SS Tantia Medical College, Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan, explained the essence and process of ‘Pulse Wave Analysis’, a technique used for arterial health and other cardiovascular parameters.

The event also included an informative session by Dr Damini Singh and Dr Vipin Sharma from Spectevo Technologies Pvt. Ltd on“Establishment of diagnostic labs: Planning, designing, and commissioning”. After lunch, there was an oral Scientific presentation session where over a dozen research scholars presented their research articles on topics related to pre and para-clinical medical subjects. Each presentation was followed by a brief question and answer session, and the presenters were evaluated based on the quality of their research and presentation. Meghlatha TS who presented her article titled Assessing the efficacy of With aferin-A and Propolis on DNA protein cross links and DNA damages bez(a)pyrene induced breast cancer was adjudged the winner.

Mohit Suyal bagged the second position while Vijay Kumar secured the third position. Founder of NMMTA, Dr SridharRao said that NMMTA is growing, and it is proving its mettle over time. President Dr Arjun Maitra said such conferences are home coming and one can meet their professional family and he expected more all inclusive participation for betterment of Medical Sciences in future. The event concluded with the vote of thanks by the Secretary of the association, with the promise to reconvene at a new destination next year.
