Dehradun, 13 Jun: BJP has termed the views and attitude of the Congress regarding the demographic changes occurring in the state and the Purola incidents as unfortunate, and has claimed that such views and statements of Congress leaders are hurting the sentiments of the people of the state.
BJP State President Mahendra Bhatt warned that the statement of senior Congress leader Harish Rawat shows that that he is deliberately ignoring the ground reality in this case and is looking at the incident from a political prism. He said that due to the policy of appeasement of Congress, Harish Rawat is supporting Owaisi in one way or the other, but this will not lead to any solution in this case. Such political statements are in fact hurting the sentiments of the people who have been living in the hills. Bhatt asserted that it is wrong to divert attention from the issue by not linking it to other incidents. If Harish Rawat or other Congress leaders wish to become advocates of those who carried out such crimes, then they should clearly say so and also clarify the reasons for doing this. Bhatt said that the BJP Government is running a verification campaign to stop  land jihad in the state and at the same time has  brought a strict anti mass or forced conversion law. This is to save the culture and  traditional forms of the state. If there is any flaw in the law, then the Congress should point out but should not reject the whole law and it should also refrain from giving a political colour to it.
Advising the opposition to discuss these issues deeply and avoid disturbing the atmosphere, Bhatt said that this issue is not about politics, but about taking seriously and protecting the traditions of Dev Bhoomi and to curb the changing demography. Positive initiative of the opposition is also needed for a permanent solution. If the people of the area are concerned about their rights and nature, then there is need to listen to their side as well. It is the responsibility of all of us along with the government to maintain the cultural, social and spiritual nature of the state.
The state government is taking strict action against those involved in such immoral acts, while ensuring law and order so that the conspiracy of those who disturb the peace of the state does not succeed.  Those who try to spread poison in society should be behind the bars and for this, every party and organisation needs to come forward keeping political aspect aside. It is necessary for all to find solutions to the questions related to the attacks on the spiritual aspects.
Bhatt asserted that the Pushkar Dhami Government is working under the policy of transparency without any discrimination and in such a situation, looking at every good work through a political prism and adopting one sided approach is unacceptable. The venomous words of Congress leaders are fuelling hatred and this is absolutely wrong.
