During this programme, members of the tribal community working at the university farm were given a platform to present cultural performances, marking the first time in the nearly 20-year history of the Ladies Club that such an opportunity was provided. Young tribal members also enthusiastically participated and performed in the programme. Folk dances were presented by local artists from the hill region as well as by women workers from the university’s Garden Section.
The artists who participated in the programme were encouraged by the Vice-Chancellor of the university and the Chief Guest, Professor (Dr) Manmohan Singh Chauhan, who honoured them by distributing blankets to everyone. The Chief Guest appreciated the social service work being carried out by the Ladies Club. He stated that the Club has continuously made remarkable contributions to the weaker sections of society.
