Derhadun, 13 Feb: Apart from the daylight murder in Dehradun this morning which has shaken the city, a dead body has also been recovered from a drain near the Chandrabani cremation ground here today. This area falls under the jurisdiction of Patel Nagar police station. The police officials reached the spot promptly upon receiving information and initiated a detailed investigation into the matter.
According to police sources, information was received through the Control Room today, that a body was lying in a dirty drain near the Chandrabani cremation ground. Acting swiftly on the alert, a police team from Kotwali Patel Nagar rushed to the scene. The body was retrieved from the drain and the Field Unit was called in to conduct photography and videography of the site as part of standard procedural requirements.
During the preliminary inspection, no visible injury marks or scratches have been found on the body. Police officials also confirmed that no identity documents were recovered from the deceased. Efforts are being made to ascertain the identity of the man by questioning local residents and passers-by in the vicinity; however, the deceased has not been identified till the time, this report was filed.
The body has been kept in the mortuary of Coronation Hospital for identification purposes. Police stated that all possible angles are being examined as part of the ongoing inquiry. The actual cause of death will be established only after the identity of the deceased is confirmed and the post-mortem report is received.
