Dehradun, 30 Jul: High-speed dewatering pumps recently handed over by the district administration to seven agencies are proving highly effective in mitigating waterlogging across the city. These pumps, designed to swiftly drain rainwater accumulation, were put to the test yesterday when heavy rainfall caused waterlogging at Prince Chowk. The Quick Response Team (QRT), in collaboration with Smart City and PIU, promptly deployed one of the newly supplied pumps at the site, successfully resolving the issue within minutes and restoring uninterrupted traffic flow.

In pursuance of the directives issued by District Magistrate Savin Bansal, the QRT has continued its proactive inspection of flood-prone zones to prevent urban waterlogging. Following heavy rainfall, team members inspected the Rispana catchment area, Chandrabani, ISBT, Banjarawala and Arcadia Grant. Chief Municipal Health Officer reported no signs of waterlogging at these locations. The QRT remains stationed in vulnerable areas and is diligently working to ensure swift response and resolution to rain-induced challenges.

In an unrelated development, the residents of Doon Jakhan area have raised concerns over a persistent issue of contaminated water supply. Acting promptly on instructions from the District Magistrate, Additional District Magistrate (Finance and Revenue) KK Mishra directed a Jal Sansthan team to the site. The team promptly identified and repaired the faulty pipeline, restoring clean water to affected households. The local consumers have expressed satisfaction following the resolution of the issue.
