Dhami advocates sports as stress buster

DEHRADUN, 20 Dec: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated that it is extremely necessary for personnel to adopt sporting activities amidst the busyness of official work, as sports bring discipline into life along with relieving stress and keeping the body healthy. He mentioned that remaining healthy is a human being’s greatest capital and sports are the most effective medium in this direction. The Chief Minister expressed confidence that inter-departmental badminton competition will continue uninterrupted in the future and will infuse positive energy among employees and officers.
With these thoughts, Dhami inaugurated the 10th Inter-departmental Badminton Tournament-2025, organised by the Uttarakhand Secretariat Badminton Club, at the Multipurpose Sports Hall, Parade Ground, Dehradun, on Saturday.
On this occasion, Chief Minister also encouraged the players by playing badminton himself. Employees and officers from 42 departments of the state are participating in the competition.
Pushkar Singh Dhami said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttarakhand is emerging as an example for the country in every field. The state is moving toward transformation and is setting new records of development through innovations, historic decisions and public welfare policies. Recently, National Games were successfully organised in Uttarakhand for the first time, which has led to a remarkable expansion of sports infrastructure and facilities in the state.
He said that continuous efforts are being made to encourage sports in ‘Dev Bhoomi’ Uttarakhand and develop the state as ‘Khel Bhoomi’ so that young talents can get opportunities to move forward at national and international levels.
Badminton Club president Hira Singh Baseda said that under the leadership of Chief Minister, international-level sports facilities are developing rapidly in the state. Players are being provided with continuous encouragement and better resources, due to which Uttarakhand is establishing its identity as a rising sports superpower.
On this occasion, MLA Khajan Das, Principal Secretary RK Sudhanshu, Badminton Club president Hira Singh Baseda, Pramod Kumar, Bhupendra Basera, JP Maikhuri and many other dignitaries and players were present.
