Dhami directs fast tracking of Ganga and Sharda Corridor projects

Dehradun, 8 Apr: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today reviewed the progress of key infrastructure projects in Uttarakhand during the fourth meeting of the Uttarakhand Investment and Infrastructure Development Board (UIIDB). During the meeting, he directed the officials to expedite work on the Haridwar Ganga Corridor, Sharda Riverfront Corridor and Rishikesh Ganga Corridor projects and to accord these projects top priority in implementation.

During the review the CM reminded that the primary objective behind the formation of the UIIDB is to boost investment and strengthen infrastructure in the state. He directed the departments concerned to work with seriousness, coordination and accountability to achieve these goals and also stressed on the need to simplify procedures to overcome bottlenecks so that projects can be implemented on the ground in a time-bound manner.

Dhami issued clear instructions that visible progress must be achieved in these projects within the next six months. He directed that well-defined timelines be set for each project and that completion be ensured within stipulated deadlines, along with regular monitoring and review at all levels to prevent delays and ensure steady progress.

Focusing on the Sharda Corridor, the CM instructed the officials to expedite work by ensuring timely availability of land and to undertake detailed studies of the area’s susceptibility to landslides so that adequate protective measures can be prioritised. He added that the development of the riverfront and beautification of ghats along the Sharda River would significantly improve facilities for pilgrims and tourists visiting the region.

Dhami also directed that preparations be aligned with the forthcoming Haridwar Kumbh and due priority be given to ensuring cleanliness of the Ganga from Gangotri to Haridwar, along with the upkeep, beautification and strengthening of infrastructure at ghats in Haridwar and Rishikesh. He observed that providing better facilities to pilgrims remains a top priority for the state government.

The CM further stressed on the importance of maintaining quality, transparency and adherence to timelines in all the projects in order to accelerate the overall development of the state and position Uttarakhand as an attractive destination for investment. The CM noted that the Sharda and Ganga corridor projects are aimed at boosting religious tourism, strengthening the local economy and enhancing convenience for pilgrims through distinct design approaches tailored to each project.

Dhami reminded that under the Sharda Corridor, multiple works relating to infrastructure development, tourism promotion and economic uplift of local communities would be undertaken, to push regional growth alongside improved visitor experience.
