Dehradun, 14 Mar: The Pushkar Singh Dhami Government has begun the process of recruitment to 189 posts of the Provincial Civil Services (PCS) cadre of Uttarakhand. The recruitment will be done by the Uttarakhand Public Service Commission (UKPSC). On the requisition submitted by the Dhami Government, UKPSC has released the notification for 189 posts of PCS. Applications have been invited for recruitment with effect from today.

It may be recalled that UKPSC has often been accused of undue delay in selection and appointment of PCS Cadre officers. The previous recruitment process is yet to be completed. The written examination for the PCS Cadre had last been held in 2021 and it is only recently that the result has been declared, while the interviews have not yet been held. The interviews will be held for the previous recruitment from 18 March onwards.

So, it can’t be stated with certainty when the written examination to fill up the newly announced vacancies will be held and when the results will be declared of the written tests. The Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has issued strict directions to, both, the UKPSC and to UKSSSC to complete the recruitment process on every post at the earliest.

It may also be noted that recruitments made through UKSSSC especially have been found to be rigged. Attempts by the recruitment mafia have also been to rig the recruitments made through UKPSC.

On the other hand, the government claims that, after the implementation of the strict anti-copying law, results are being released on time. For the last several months, appointment letters are being distributed to the youth successful in the examinations for the posts of Group ‘C’ and officer cadre.

According to Commission Secretary Girdhari Singh Rawat, applications have been invited for about 189 vacant posts of the PCS Cadre in 13 departments. According to the Secretary of the Commission, the number of posts may increase or decrease. As per the notification issued today, the Commission has 10 posts of SDM, 17 of DSP rank and various posts of Finance Officers, Assistant Commissioners in State Tax Department, Education, Panchayati Raj, etc., that have been advertised.  Currently, the interviews for the 318 posts of PCS cadre which had been advertised in 2021 are due to begin from 18 March, onwards.
