Nainbagh (Tehri) 17 Dec: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the Jaunpur Sports and Cultural Development Festival held at RIC Garkhet at Nainbagh (District Tehri Garhwal) today. He was warmly welcomed by the organising committee and honoured with a traditional coat and cap at the festival.
During the event, the Chief Minister announced several developmental projects for the region, including the construction of a 6 kilometre long motor road from Dwargarh to Hingoti Bhadraraj Temple, a 4 kilometre long motor road from Aglad Thatyud Motor Road 10 km point till Thakkar Kudaun, Khas Kudaun to Swel Chak, a permanent helipad at Garkhet. Besides this, the CM also declared the Jaunpur Sports and Cultural Development Festival as a state fair.
Expressing his happiness at attending the festival, Dhami laid emphasis on the importance of preserving and promoting Uttarakhand’s rich folk culture and traditions. He mentioned that such festivals play a vital role in fostering love, affection, and belonging to the place and also contribute to the strategic and social fields. He reiterated the state government’s commitment to preserving culture, dialects, and the heritage of ancestors, as stressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on State Formation Day.
The CM also spoke about various initiatives taken by the state government, such as the Uttarakhand Sahitya Gaurav Samman for promoting literature in local dialects, steps taken to encourage traditional sports, initiatives to prevent large scale migration from the hills, and for overall development in the state. He also spoke about the success of women’s groups in producing high-quality products under the House of Himalaya brand, which he claimed, are gaining national and international recognition. He also reminded the gathering of implementation of a strict anti-copying law, the provision of nineteen thousand jobs in government services over the last three and a half years, and promoting self-employment in various sectors.
Dhami praised the efforts of the organisers in preserving cultural heritage and passing it on to future generations. He assured the government’s commitment to enacting strict land laws, with suggestions being sought at the government-administration level, and promised strict action against illegal land purchases in Uttarakhand.
Dhanolti MLA Pritam Singh Panwar expressed gratitude on behalf of the local people for the Chief Minister’s participation and highlighted the government’s development works and achievements. He also submitted a demand letter to the CM towards speeding up the region’s development.
Those who were present on the occasion included MLA, Rajpur, Khajan Das, District President, BJP, Rajesh Nautiyal, Chairman, OBC Commission, Sanjay Negi, outgoing Block Pramukh/Administrator Sita Rawat, DM Mayur Dixit, In-charge SSP Sarita Dobhal, CDO Dr Abhishek Tripathi, former MLA Jot Singh Gunsola, Manmohan Mall, Subhash Ramola, Mela Committee Chairman Suresh Panwar, along with several public representatives and the local residents.
