Dhami reviews preparations for International Kayaking, Canoeing event in Gadarpur

GADARPUR, 13 Jun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday inspected the preparations for the forthcoming International Kayaking and Canoeing Competition at Gadarpur, Udham Singh Nagar district. He reviewed the arrangements at the venue, including facilities for players, security measures, technical support, transport, accommodation and other essential provisions. He also directed the officials to ensure that all the preparations are completed on time and in accordance with the international standards. He also stressed that the participants, coaches, referees and guests from India and abroad do not face no inconvenience.
During the inspection, Dhami himself experienced water sports activities and remarked that Uttarakhand has immense potential for adventure sports. He said the State’s natural conditions are favourable for water sports, mountain games and other adventure activities, and the government is making continuous efforts to expand facilities and develop modern sports infrastructure. He stressed that the aim is to give Uttarakhand national and international recognition in the field of sports by providing better training, facilities and opportunities to players, while encouraging the organisation of large‑scale competitions.
Dhami noted that international events provide young athletes with a platform to showcase their talent and inspire them to progress at the global level. He added that such events not only promote sporting activities but also boost tourism, local businesses, employment and economic growth. He added that Uttarakhand’s identity as an adventure tourism state will be further strengthened, attracting visitors from across the country and abroad to experience both its natural beauty and sporting opportunities.
The CM further stated that the government is working at multiple levels to take sports to the masses and encourage youth participation. Efforts are being made to identify talent, provide training facilities and reward outstanding performers. He instructed officials to ensure cleanliness, drinking water, medical facilities, security and traffic management at the venue with the highest standards, so that the competition reflects Uttarakhand’s work culture and hospitality.
On the occasion, local MLA Arvind Pandey, officials from concerned departments and other dignitaries were present.
