New Delhi, 2 Feb: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami called on the Union Minister of Heavy Industries, Dr Mahendra Nath Pandey, here, today. On the occasion, the Chief Minister urged the Union Minister to transfer ownership of 492 acres of unused land owned by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited in Haridwar to the Government of Uttarakhand.
During the meeting, CM Dhami also expressed his gratitude for the support received from the Centre for industrial development, and claimed Uttarakhand is continuously making progress in the field of ease of doing business, investment promotion and start-ups. Uttarakhand is continuously getting top rank in the rankings issued by the Government with respect to Ease in Doing Business. The Chief Minister reminded the Union Minister that 457 acres of land owned by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) in Haridwar, which is located adjacent to the Integrated Industrial Estate, Haridwar, is currently vacant having been unused during the past 60 years. Apart from this, BHEL Haridwar also owns an additional 35 acres of vacant and unused land located along the Haridwar Railway Line. This land is suitable for setting up a Multi Modal Logistics Park (MLD).
The Chief Minister told the Union Minister that, in order to promote investment in the state of Uttarakhand, the said 457 acres of land should be transferred to the state government for industrial expansion and the additional 35 acres of land located near the Railway Line should be transferred to the state government for setting up Multi Model Logistics Park (MMLP. Investment would get a new dimension, and youth also get employment opportunities.
During the meeting, the Union Minister also gave in-principle consent for the construction of Centres of Excellence in Roorkee and Pantnagar in Uttarakhand.
