Dehradun, 14 Oct: District Magistrate Savin Bansal heard the problems of complainants at a Janta Darshan programme held at Rishiparna Auditorium of the Collectorate, here, today. A total of 107 complaints were received today, which were mostly related to issues such as forced land occupation, illegal encroachment, illegal construction, electricity and water connections, and road construction.

Most of the complaints were resolved on the spot, and the departmental officers concerned were directed to resolve other problems at the earliest.

The DM was informed by a complainant, Jeevan Singh from Vikas Nagar, about his house being damaged in a natural calamity. Bansal directed the SDM, Vikas Nagar, to provide immediate relief to the complainant and report back within a week. He also urged the complainant to meet him directly again in case his problem is not resolved soon. A woman resident of Araghar complained to the DM that her neighbour had blocked her sewer line, causing her a lot of trouble. Despite her persistent efforts for months, the problem had not been resolved. The District Magistrate reprimanded the officials of Jal Sansthan and directed them to ensure that the sewer line is unblocked and that the problem is resolved at the earliest. He also said that the department should resolve small complaints at its own level.

He also warned of strict action against the officials who unnecessarily harass and mislead the public.

A woman resident of Rajpur Road complained that her family shop had been forcibly occupied by goons and sought the help of the DM.

The DM ordered proper investigation in the case and also directed effective action as per the rules to give the possession of her shop back to her. Another woman complained about mental harassment by her family members, on which the DM directed the District Programme Officer, Bal Vikas, to register an FIR against the persons concerned and provide shelter to the woman in the One Stop Centre.

Later, speaking to media persons, the DM stated that solving the complaints and problems of the common people are his top priority. The objective of organising the Janta Darshan is to resolve the problems of the common person on the spot as far as possible. He also emphasised that complaints should not remain pending and officers should work to resolve them at the earliest.
