Dolphin Institute celebrates World Environment Day

Dehradun, 5 Jun: The World Environment Day celebrations began, today, at the Dolphin Institute with tree plantation by Prof SPS Kushwaha, ex-Head of Indian Institute of Remote Sensing, CO of 29 UKBN, NCC, Col Sudeep Bose, Subedar Major Baljinder Kumar, Principal, Dolphin Institute, Dr Shailja Pant, Head, Forestry Department, Dr Sas Biswas, Head, Botany Department, and Organising Secretary of the programme, Dr KP Tripathi along with faculty members and students.
Dr Shailja Pant addressed the audience and spoke about the major contributors of Air Pollution. She said that there was need for the Government to make strict laws and strictly implement the same. Dr Kushwaha spoke about the effects of air pollution and effective solutions to control the same.
Dr Sas Biswas emphasised upon identifying the contributors of air pollution. He said that pollution could be controlled by planting as many trees as possible. Col Bose congratulated everyone on World Environment Day.
A Poster Presentation programme was also organized on the occasion. In this competition, Nisha Subba of MSc stood 1st, Neelam and Kishore were IInd and Vivek Parihar and Kushagra Namgyal of MSc Physics, IIIrd. They were given prizes and certificates were distributed to all participants. Organising Secretary Dr KP Tripathi proposed the vote of thanks.
Among those present on the occasion were Dr Shruti Sharma, Dr GN Sinha, Dr Sandhya Goswami, Prerna Bahuguna, Dr AK Uniyal, Dr Mandeep Kaur, Dr Vidit Tyagi, Dr CS Pandey along with other faculty members and students from various departments.
