Dehradun, 7 Feb: The newly elected Mayor of Dehradun, Saurabh Thapliyal, was today sworn in at a simple ceremony held in the Nagar Nigam premises here, today, in the presence of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, several cabinet ministers, MPs and MLAs including former Doon Mayor Vinod Chamoli.
Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey administered the oath of office to Thapliyal, who then administered the oath of office and membership to all the 100 newly elected municipal corporators. The corporators were sworn in in batches of ten, each, in a chronological manner according to the ward numbers.

The programme was short despite the presence of CM Dhami and many other senior leaders. It may be recalled that Thapliyal of BJP defeated his nearest rival Virendra Pokhriyal of the Congress. BJP also leads Congress in respect of municipal corporators.
This was followed by a formal first meeting of the newly constituted Municipal Corporation Board.
Cabinet Ministers Prem Chand Aggarwal, Ganesh Joshi, Saurabh Bahuguna, MLAs Vinod Chamoli, Savita Kapoor, Khajan Das, Umesh Sharma Kau, Brijbhushan Gairola, Durgeshwar Lal, former Cabinet Minister Dinesh Aggarwal, former Mayor Sunil Uniyal Gama, District Magistrate Savin Bansal, Chief Development Officer Abhinav Shah, Chief Municipal Commissioner Namami Bansal, City Magistrate Pratyush Singh, Deputy Municipal Commissioner Gopal Ram Binwal, other officials, local public representatives, dignitaries, and a large number of people attended the oath-taking ceremony.
In addition, as per the reports received from across the state, swearing in ceremonies were organised today for the mayors and councillors in all 100 municipal bodies across the state including in 11 municipal corporations, 43 municipal councils and 46 nagar panchayats in which, the elected public representatives were administered the oath of office and secrecy.
