Drishti Eye Institute holds Blood Donation Camp

Dehradun, 27 Aug: Drishti Eye Institute organised a blood donation camp today in association with IMA Blood Bank, Dehradun. The camp was held at the Drishti Eye Institute premises. Hospital staff and citizens donated blood during the camp, resulting in collection of over 50 units of blood that will help save lives.

Members of hospital staff and Rotary E club of Doon district 3080 volunteered at the event. Hemant Kochhar, Mohit Goel, Amit Sekhri and Manish Dora donated blood and participated on behalf of Rotary E club.

The blood donation camp was organised under the guidance of Dr Gaurav Luthra, Director, Drishti Eye Institute.  Addressing the donors, Dr Gaurav said, “There is no substitute for human blood and one unit of blood can save up to three lives. We are happy with the turnout today and grateful to all the donors for their selfless act of donating blood which will help save many lives.”

Also present were D. Savita Luthra, a renowned senior Gynecologist, who exemplified dedication to saving lives. Dr Saurabh Luthra also shared his thoughts on blood donation benefits.

Drishti made special arrangements for the camp to facilitate blood donation in a safe and hygienic manner. The entire process from registration to post-donation care and refreshments was very well organised by the IMA Blood Bank team. E Rotary club team was also present during the camp.

The Blood donation camp was part of Drishti Foundation’s broader CSR programme, which aims to raise awareness on eye health, provide free or low-cost care to elderly patients, and give back to the community. Other initiatives have included free eye screening camps, especially for the elderly and underprivileged; eye screening camps at schools; and awareness campaigns on conditions like glaucoma.
