Mussoorie, 30 Jan: Roads of different parts of Mussoorie are being dug up for the Mussoorie Yamuna Drinking Water Scheme, which is being built at a cost of Rs 144 crore. However, the roads are not being repaired after laying the pipeline, due to which people are facing problems and accidents are also taking place.
Today, near Company Garden, a truck came to a halt due to road collapse and hit a parapet. The truck had to be pulled out of the pit by means of a JCB.
Locals complained that neither representatives of the local administration nor any other official is present at the time of digging the roads. The executing organisation has given the work of laying pipelines and digging roads to small contractors, who are not adhering to the specifications. They said that, if the work done under the Mussoorie Yamuna Drinking Water Scheme is not investigated in time, instead of providing benefits, it would become a problem in the coming days. They wanted that the excavated roads should be constructed immediately.
Recently, a meeting was held by SDM Mussoorie Naresh Durgapal with the officials concerned and instructions issued to repair all the roads within 15 days, but these have not been complied with. As a result, many questions are being raised on the state government as well.
