Etlantis Chess Academy hosts 50th Grand Slam III in Doon

DEHRADUN, 19 Nov: Vinay Raj Bhatt claimed the top spot in the 50th Grand Slam III rapid open tournament, held at The Etlantis Club, here. Narayan Yadav and Himanshu Moudgil took the second and third positions, respectively. In the Under-7, Under -10 and Under -15 categories, Devansh Gupta, Jivitesh Singh Sethi and Rituparn Pant, respectively, emerged as top rankers. Mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’ was the Chief Guest at the event. He presented the trophies to the winners in each category and appreciated the players for participating in this tournament. The tournament was organised by the Etlantis Chess Academy every Sunday over the past one year to provide a platform to the budding talent of the city and professional chess players. In the tournament, 100 players from more than 15 cities and 10 schools of Dehradun showcased their skills in Under- 7, Under-10, Under-15 and Open categories. The event is organised by Rohit Singh Rana, President Qamar Khan, Vice President Lalit Kapoor, Secretary Shiraz Siddique, Board Member, Vinay Raj Bhatt, Tournament Director, Kuldeep Acharya, Joint Secretary, etc. The organising committee provided free lodging, boarding, local transport, and logistics arrangement for all participants. The schools that participated were St Joseph’s Academy, Ann Mary School, Doon Presidency School, Brightland’s School, The Doon School, Doon Valley Public School, KV ONGC, KV FRI, Shemford School, and Summerfield School.
