Ramnagar, 12 Jul: The Forest Department is on high alert after receiving inputs that some poachers have possibly entered the world famous Jim Corbett National Park. The park administration has received information from various sources that poachers are either planning to enter the Tiger Reserve or have already done so. After this information, the forest workers engaged in the protection of forest and wildlife have increased patrolling. Also, all the borders are being closely monitored with intensive checking. Meanwhile, the leaves of all park employees have been cancelled till further orders.

It may be recalled that the monsoon season which is marked usually for intensive patrolling by the forest officials on foot in view of roads getting flooded also becomes vulnerable to poaching. Taking advantage of water logging which restricts movement of wildlife and of the dense grass cover which comes up during the rains, poaching becomes easier.

In view of the monsoon season, the Corbett National Park administration has geared up for the protection of wildlife. Red alert has already been issued regarding this. Meanwhile, the park administration has received information from sources that some poachers may have entered the park or are likely to enter soon for poaching wildlife. Now special patrolling is being done by the officials of the park administration and forest personnel. The help of sniffer dogs is also being taken to prevent the infiltration. Sniffer dogs can easily identify any suspicious people inside the park. Patrolling is being done with the help of four sniffer dogs on the most sensitive borders of Corbett Park. Along with this, the border is being continuously monitored from the back of trained elephants of the park. Along with this, routine patrolling is also being done in the park through drone cameras and satellite by the forest workers.

Warden of Corbett Tiger Reserve Amit Gwaskoti said that special patrolling is being organised in different areas of Corbett Park. At present, tourism activities are closed in most areas of Corbett Park, so the possibility of infiltration of poachers increases in the monsoon season, due to which the forest workers are on alert mode. He claimed that the intentions of poachers will never be allowed to succeed.
