Dehradun, 22 May: Former MLA from Ghansali Bhimlal Arya has threatened to sit on dharna against the Tourism Secretary.
At a press conference held at the Press Club here, today, Arya alleged that the Tourism Secretary is disobeying the orders of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on river rafting. He claimed that he can’t ignore the interests of the youth of the state and will do anything to protect their employment and interests.
Arya claimed that the members of the Alaknanda Ganga River Rafting Committee had met several top officials and even Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami as well as former Chief Ministers in pursuance of their demands, but the government is ignoring their interests and has taken no action to resolve the issues.
In response to a question, former MLA Arya said that very few tourists are arriving in Alaknanda for river rafting, due to which the youth engaged in river rafting business are facing a livelihood crisis. Arya added that the Committee has demanded the merger of Alaknanda Ganga River Rafting Committee with Ganga River Rafting Committee so that they can earn better livelihood by also participating in river rafting in Ganga.
According to former MLA Arya, despite several meetings and many assurances, the Tourism Secretary has not taken any step in this direction. Expressing anguish over the indecision of the government, Arya threatened to stage a dharna in pursuit of the demands against the Tourism Secretary.
On this occasion, during the press conference, committee Chairman Sunil Arya, Sachin Ramesh Pundir and many other members of the Alaknanda Ganga River Rafting Committee were present.
