Dehradun, 3 Jun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, has so far not relented on his promise to take strict action against all encroachments on government property. In this regard, properties of gangsters identified under the Gangster Act are also on the radar of the state and the district administration. In pursuance to the commitment shown by the Dhami Government, a large number of encroachments, particularly on forest land and on other government lands are being demolished in a special ongoing drive. In this connection, it was the turn of gangster Atiq Ahmed, a resident of Tuntowala in Mehuwala to face the ire of the administration. This morning, a team of the district administration in cooperation with Vasant Vihar Police demolished his house in Tuntowala, allegedly constructed illegally on encroached government land.
It may be recalled that last year, a case was registered against Atiq Ahmed, resident of Tootowala, under the Gangster Act. Several cases of land fraud are registered against him. When the Vasant Vihar police started the investigation, the accused simply absconded. He was however, arrested a few days ago by the Police, when his location was traced to Jhajra. Today, a team of the district administration and the Vasant Vihar Police Station reached his house and demolished his house in Tuntowala, in Mehuwala area with the help of bulldozers and JCB. It may be recalled that several cases of land fraud are registered against Atiq Ahmed in several police stations in the state.
The house demolished today is allegedly built by the accused on encroached government land. A notice of demolition had been served to him earlier and to the local police after which a team of police officials was made available to the district administration for the demolition action.
It may further be recalled that some time ago, DIG/SSP Dehradun, Daleep Singh Kunwar had held a press conference in his office where he had informed the media that a case was registered against Atiq Ahmed resident of Tuntowala, Patel Nagar under the Gangster Act last year, besides several other cases of land frauds and grabbing already registered against him.
DIG Dehradun, Daleep Singh Kunwar, had declared a reward of 25 thousand rupees on him. After this Vasant Vihar police came to know that he was living in Jhajhra in a rented house. From there the Vasant Vihar police arrested him. During investigation, it was found that the accused had illegally constructed a house on government land, which was finally demolished this morning.
