Gov attends Vikasit Bharat@2047 event

Dehradun, 11 Dec: Governor Lt General Gurmit Singh (Retd) participated in the ‘Vikasit Bharat@2047: Voice of Youth’ programme organised by NITI Aayog through virtual medium under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also joined from Raj Bhavan, Dehradun. Prime Minister Modi launched the ‘Vikasit Bharat@2047’ Ideas Portal at the beginning of the event.

In his virtual address, Prime Minister Modi emphasised the crucial moment in a nation’s life when rapid progress can be made in its developmental journey. He stated that India is currently experiencing the ‘Amrit Kaal’, a significant phase in its history, and urged the nation to utilise every moment of this era. Emphasising the importance of self-reliance, he drew parallels between India’s beginning with ‘I’ and the inception of ideas with ‘I’.

After the Prime Minister’s address, the Governor addressed various university officials, including Vice-Chancellors, Deans, teachers, and students present at Raj Bhavan. He expressed confidence in achieving the goal of a developed India by 2047 under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership and urged everyone to contribute to this vision.

The Governor highlighted the need for imparting values through education, incorporating aspects like yoga, Ayurveda, arts, and culture to acquaint the new generation with India’s rich heritage. He stressed the role of empowered youth in building a strong nation and urged teachers to foster a conducive environment for students to develop self-confidence.

The programme included panel discussions on different subjects, such as “Sustainable and Resilient Economy,” “Innovation, Science, and Technology”, “India in the World”, and “Role and Contribution of Youth in Developed India@2047”.

The Governor concluded by commending the government’s efforts in sowing the seeds of development, likening it to planting a tree whose fruits will be savoured by future generations.
