ROORKEE, 21 Sept: Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) participated in the first convocation ceremony of COER University as Chief Guest, where he awarded medals and degrees to the graduating students. He also unveiled the commemorative publication of the Bharat Gyan Samagam held at the university.
Addressing the students during the ceremony, the Governor stated that they are entering a new phase of life filled with challenges and opportunities. He encouraged them to convert challenges into opportunities through hard work and efficiency, emphasizing the need for innovative thinking in a rapidly changing world. He urged students to aspire to be job creators rather than job seekers and expressed confidence that the knowledge and skills acquired at the institution would empower them to face challenges and seize emerging opportunities.
Lt Gen Singh remarked on the promising future of the youth, stating that their dreams are driving India towards development. He noted with pride that there is a significant representation of women among the medal recipients and urged all graduates to work for the nation, society, and public welfare. He emphasized that upon graduation, they must act with thoughtful consideration, as their responsibilities will increase.
He highlighted the technological advancements on the horizon, including artificial intelligence, metaverse, quantum computing, space technology, and cyber technology, which will present better opportunities. The Governor stressed the importance of communication in today’s world and affirmed that the third decade of the 21st century belongs to India, where the youth will play a crucial role. He noted that India is on a fast track of development, having become the fifth largest economy and now striving to become the third largest, with significant youth participation.
During the ceremony, the Governor presented the first Seth Roshan Lal Jain Trophy for the session 2021-24 to Muskan Pandey, the second trophy for the session 2021-23 to Ms. Ishika Sharma, and the third trophy for the session 2022-24 to Mr. Abhishek Jain.
The convocation was presided over by the university’s Registrar Dr Manish Kumar. The university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof (Dr) Ankush Mittal, presented the annual report highlighting the university’s achievements. The event was attended by the Managing Director of the renowned publishing house BPB Publications, Manish Jain, President JC Jain, Vice-President Shreyans Jain, faculty members, and students.
