Dehradun, 9 Mar: Vice Admiral Anil Chawla (Retd) and CEO Abhinav Singh of the Cantonment Board met Governor Lt General Gurmit Singh (Retd) at the Raj Bhavan, here, on Thursday. He informed the Governor about the work done so far in relation to ‘Wash’ (water, sanitation, hygiene) programme.
Many innovative programmes have been conducted by “Wash”, which is currently in the process of working as a cooperative institution of Uttarakhand in the field of cleanliness and waste management.
The Governor said, “We need to make the cleanliness campaign a mass movement in which participation of all sections is necessary. It is very important to make people aware about the disposal of various kinds of waste.”
He added that an innovation seminar in cleanliness will be organised soon in collaboration with Wash. In this, all the stakeholders related to cleanliness would be informed about the innovations and appropriate ways of implementation.
The Governor added that cooperation of all NGOs and other voluntary organisations would also be takent. Water sanitation, plastic and solid waste management is a challenge, which is also harming public health and the environment.
