Dehradun, 8 Aug: Chairman of the Uttarakhand Gramin Bank, Harihar Pattnaik, called on Governor Lt General Gurmit Singh (Retd) at the Raj Bhavan here, today, and presented the 13th Annual Report of the bank.
Pattnaik briefed the Governor on the initiatives undertaken by the bank during the financial year 2024–25, including efforts to extend banking services to remote and rural areas of the state, empower self-help groups, promote self-employment, provide easy loans to farmers, and enhance digital banking facilities.
The Governor stated that, in a hilly state like Uttarakhand, the role of rural banks is extremely crucial. He acknowledged the bank’s significant contribution to strengthening the rural economy, ensuring access to financial services and supporting the overall development of the state.
He urged the bank to further expand its services in border and remote areas, promote employment-related schemes for youth and women, and actively participate in development-related projects.
The Governor also suggested that bank employees who perform exceptionally well should be recognised and honoured. He emphasised the importance of outreach and publicity to ensure that no citizen of the state remains deprived of banking services.
On this occasion, Uttarakhand Gramin Bank GM Amita Raturi, AGM Mahipal Dasyula, and Senior Manager (Planning) Harish Kandari were also present.
