DEHRADUN, 22 Sept: Governor Lt-General Gurmit Singh (Retd) flagged off the cycle yatra of SPIC MACAY founder Padma Shri awardee Dr Kiran Seth from the Raj Bhavan, here, on Thursday.
Dr Seth’s cycle journey, which started from Kashmir on 15 August will end on 31 December at Kanyakumari. The purpose of this Cycle Yatra is to promote Indian culture, simple living, high thinking and staying physically and mentally healthy.
The Governor appreciated Dr Seth’s enthusiasm and extended his best wishes for his journey ahead. He said it is necessary for every person to have knowledge of Indian civilisation, culture and history. It is a commendable step to convey this message through such a Cycle Yatra. While cycling is beneficial for health, it is also a good option for environmental protection.
