Gov pays obeisance at Badrinath Dham; reviews development works

Chamoli, 28 Oct: Governor, Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd), visited Badrinath Dham on Monday. He offered prayers and performed rituals before Lord Badrinath, praying for the welfare of the world.

Upon his arrival at the Badrinath helipad, police personnel provided a Guard of Honour. During this visit, he also met with local women from Mana village and extended his greetings. The Governor expressed his satisfaction regarding the ongoing master plan projects at Badrinath Dham, noting that the construction works are beginning to reveal the divine and grand character of the site. He thanked the temple committee and local residents for their cooperation in the successful management of the Badrinath Yatra.

Lt Gen Singh received updates from the District Magistrate of Chamoli, Sandeep Tiwari, regarding the travel arrangements and master plan initiatives, instructing that all government projects for passenger facilities be completed with quality and within deadlines.

The District Magistrate informed the Governor that the number of pilgrims is increasing in the final phase of the yatra, prompting enhanced safety measures alongside the viewing arrangements. He provided details on the Badrinath master plan, highlighting that priority works include a hospital building, tourist management centre, civic amenities centre, and riverfront developments. Additionally, Mana village has been selected as a Vibrant Village, aiming to enrich this border area with various central and state government schemes. He also discussed plans to resolve issues along the yatra route at Kameda, Chatwapipeel, and Paglanala.

Present at the event were Superintendent of Police Sarvesh Pawar, Vice-Chairman of BKTC Kishore Panwar, SDM, Chamoli, RK Pandey, SDM, Joshimath, Chandra Shekhar Vashisht, Tourism Officer Brijendra Pandey, and CEO Vijay Prasad Thapliyal, along with officials from related departments.
